No Tinker Doomsday – just as Garfield intended. Unless it is lying in wait to snap back at us when we least expect it.

Thoughts

Doomsday did not do great this weekend. Saturday and Sunday were 55.6% and 33.4% winrates, and as you can see, nothing in the prelimins or leagues. And the prelims did fire. So what's wrong?
Mono-White Initiative is going strong, and they are bringing in Null Rods. It's not the perfect card against Doomsday, but it can sting. Drop a Thalia, Archon, or Init creature and follow it up with Null Rod? It's going to be hard for Doomsday to recover.
So what else happened? I found myself having some trouble with Esper Lurrus. Lavinia and DRS are a hell of a clock when backed up with counters, cheap removal, and Lurrus to recast Lavinia et. al. It was rough.
With Initiative, and the Tinker variant, on the rise, our sideboard is even more precious.
Respect Bazaar? ecobaronen says no. Race it. Combo decks are all about speed, right? Not dedicating those five sideboard spots and turning off Force of Vigor is not bad either. The article is about a year old, but you can read ecobaronen's thoughts here.
