Vintage Doomsday Piles

Doomsday players call the five cards selected after resolving the spell a pile. There is no perfect pile. Experience with Doomsday and Vintage makes it easier to recognize the best piles.

Note: I've tried to keep slang and acronyms out to make this as accessible to as many new players as possible. Let me know if you have any questions.

Standard Piles

Ancestral Recall Piles

Top

Bottom

Requirements: .
This pile allows you to draw into Black Lotus and Thassa's Oracle with a Flusterstorm as backup. The last card doesn't matter. Another Oracle lets you have a second chance should things go awry with the first.
You might have to pass the turn if you spent resources resolving Doomsday. Passing with this pile is dangerous if you lack a free Counterspell.

Gush Piles

Sometimes Ancestral Recall is gone. Be it from Force of NegationDeathrite Shaman, or Demonic Consultation, you have to go for the next best thing: Gush.

Requirements: Two Islands in play.
Cast Gush, draw Lotus and play Oracle. Time Walk can let you get another chance should this not work

These piles play around Mindbreak Trap.

Piles to Play Around Problems

Draw Restrictions

These cards make it hard to draw into your pile to win. Narset gives your opponent more cards and the creatures put a huge clock on your halved life total.
Except for Hullbreacher, don't forget you can draw a card on your opponent's turn.

This pile, assuming you have the life to spare, can get you through safely.
