Tinker Doomsday is back! With similar results.
Okay, let's turn to the exciting thing of the week: Surveil Lands! Specifically, Undercity Sewers.
A Doomsday list in the top 8 played it. Exciting? Kind of.
So obviously, 1-offs have the problem of, well, you can play many a tournament and never see them. Lands, though, we fetch lands. This raises an interesting question: Can Doomsday afford to fetch a tapped land? I've found myself end-step fetching Watery Grave like a Modern Player now and again. Turning that into a Surveil is not a terrible proposition. The problem is there has been the odd game where the two-life from Watery Grave being the only land in my opener mattered. Undercity Sewers, being that opening land changes the feels of mulligans slightly. What is most interesting to me about Enrichetta's list is that it did not replace Watery Grave or a fetch. It replaced Basic Island. Now feels like an incredibly risky time to make that play. But fortune favors the bold, right?
Being in the top 8 list will put Undercity Sewers in lists for a while. If I had to guess if it would stick around or not? My gut says no, but I hope I'm surprised.
