Thoughts
Whew! Shame that one person got tricked into playing Tinker Doomsday (I jest. It's an interesting build I have had little luck with. I mostly like to joke becasue it makes the comparison images weird and long.)
The thing about Tinker Doomsday is look at the sacrifices it makes. This list plays 4 Draw and 4 Counters. Other players have between 5 and 8 Counters and 7 to 10 Draw spells - more if you consider that many on the lower end also packed Dress Down for its utility. So, of course it's a representation issue, but standard Doomsday does well.
While there are many interesting choices, Reid Duke's main copy of Defense Grid is one I am looking to try myself. It not like old Dark Petition Storm lists that were on 2 to 4 copies, but I like the idea of having Grid and Duress as options.
I've personally been on Chain in the main – that whole Blue Count thing, but I think I'll give Reid's list a spin this week.
Oh yeah, and not to brag, but it looks like I was the top ranked Doomsday player at amongst all three Eternal Weekends this year. 😎
Although I missed top 8 by a hair, I'm proud – ugh, I kind of hate using that word but that is how I feel – of how much better I did, considering that I went 2-5 at last year's event. Fun both times, but hey, it feels good when it at least feels like work pays off. Even though I know luck also plays a huge part of it.
Thanks to all the Doomsday players for their interesting lists this year. Keep on jamming the deck on MO and your locals.
